Data can easily accumulate and take up hard drive space. You see the cluttered files and decide to reorganize them before you lose them. Then, poof! You hit the wrong button and accidently delete the data. Some of you may not have been lucky to salvage the lost data using recovery software. When you realize immediately that you’ve deleted the wrong file, you have a better chance of recovering the deleted data. If you discovered that you have unintentionally deleted the file after using the hard disk for a while, in common cases, it’s lost forever. Even with RAID drives or hard disk mirroring, deletions are reflected simultaneously, which makes it difficult in most cases to recover the data. Accidental deletions often occur when sharing one computer or server in the family or workplace. What we recommend in these cases is saving to BD-Rs or DVD-Rs with Pioneer’s blu-ray disk drives. Depending on the amount of data to be saved, you can choose the most appropriate type of media. For example, recently the use of digital cameras produces high-volumes of data, which demand more capacity than what DVD-Rs can provide, so we recommend BD-Rs. The cost efficiency (unit price per MB) is also better. For long-time storage, we hope that users select media not only based on price, but also take quality into consideration by consulting the media list and dealer staff for reference. To store disks, we recommend putting the disks in the disk cases as this prevents warping in an environment comfortable to human beings. Avoid enclosed places in a car or room that experiences high temperatures and humidity or locations next to a window where disks are exposed to direct, strong sunlight, or any other place that is similar to test conditions for accelerated life testing. As long as the media are kept under conditions recommended by media manufacturers, you can expect stable, long-term preservation of your data. For further information, please inquire with the individual media manufacturer. |
