important notice

To Customers using the Pioneer DVD/CD writer "DVR-A03, DVR-A04, DVR-104"
To Customers using the Pioneer DVD/CD writer "DVR-109 series"
Please make sure to follow the installer direction on the firmware update process.
Installing the improper firmware may render the drive inoperable.

It is recommended the target drive is the only drive connected when updating.
This program is known to display some errors when using Windows 98SE with multiple drives attached.
However this will not affect the update process.

This firmware utility is not proper for updating OEM drive.
For users of OEM drive, please contact each PC maker for assistance when updating.

High-Speed Filter Driver
This high-speed filter driver streamlines the data transfer of the USB port and enables high-speed transfer in order to maximize the performance of our optical disc drive.
Mac user doesn't need to install.
lnstallation procedure
Preparing for installation
  1. Connect only one USB drive compatible with this high-speed filter driver to your PC with a wired connection of a USB cable.
  2. Download PUSBODD2.zip to any folder.
  3. Unzip PUSBODD2.zip.
Installation method
If the high-speed filter driver is already installed, check the version (see [How to check the version] below).
If the version is 2.63.001, no installation is required.
  1. Run INSTALL.exe and follow the displayed message.
  2. Please restart your computer.
How to check the version
  1. Click "Start" → "Control Panel (Display Method: Category)" → "System and Security" → "Device Manager".
    Double-click "USB (Universal Serial Bus) Controller" → "USB Mass Recording Device (High Speed USB Driver)".
  2. Click the "Driver" tab → "Driver Details" to open the "Driver File Details Window". Click PUSBODD2.SYS.
    2.63.001 is the version information.
Workaround for the problem that the USB high-speed filter driver cannot be installed on Windows 10
If the error "Copy driver file failed" is displayed when you execute INSTALL.exe, you can install it by following the steps below.
  1. gRight-clickh on the downloaded zip file and select gPropertiesh.
  2. Click the "Unblock" button displayed on the "General tab".
  3. Unzip the "unblocked" zip file.
  4. Run INSTALL.exe

USB High Speed Driver

Use the following instructions if you receive an error message when you execute "INSTALL.exe".
  1. Right-click on the zipped file and open "Properties".
  2. Click on the "Unblock" button at the General tab and then on Apply/OK.
  3. You will now be able to access or open the downloaded file. Open the"Unblocked"zip file.
  4. Execute INSTALL.exe.

USB Convertor Driver(DVR-S606) for Windows98SE
For the user of Windows 98SE
In prior to use the drive DVR-S606, the driver must be installed firstly. The drive can work properly only after the driver installation.

For the user of Windows Me/2000/XP

About Region Codes
Region Codes are part of the DVD Standard.
 There is a Region number located within one or all of the components required for DVD-VIDEO playback.
The Region number defines the region of the DVD-ROM drive and its playback hardware/software. DVD-VIDEO discs may also contain a Region number in the shape of a world globe. Unless the Region number on both the DVD-VIDEO disc and DVD-ROM drive and its playback components match, playback is not possible. When the word "ALL" is located in the world globe on a DVD-VIDEO disc, that particular DVD-VIDEO disc can be played on all DVD-ROM drives and its playback components, regardless of its region.
All Pioneer 10X DVD-ROM drives now conform to the RPC mode 2 standard,as set down by the DVD Forum as mandatory for all manufacturers of DVD-ROM drives produced after January 1st 2000.

RPC Phase 1- RPC code management is handled by the DVD Video decoder inside a PC system.
RPC Phase 2-RPC code management is handled by either the DVD-ROM drive or both DVD-ROM drive and DVD-Video decoder inside a PC system.
