With its headquarters surrounded by rich natural resources of Yamagata Prefecture, Tohoku Pioneer and all its overseas locations recognize the necessity and importance of adhering to environmental conservation and protection activities.
Tohoku Pioneer has been committed to implementing environmental protection activities, such as abolishing the use of all ozone-depleting substances, reducing the uses and contents of toxic substances and introducing co-generation power facilities.
To be certified for ISO 14001, preparation began in 1997 to establish the company's environmental management system and all the employees worked together for a successful certification.
Tendo Main Plant and Yonezawa Plant were certified on June 5, 1999. The scope of the certification was extended to include Tendo South Plant (FA Business Unit) and Tohoku Pioneer's other domestic subsidiaries (TSE Corporation, TP Electronic Corporation, TPA Corporation and Piotec, Inc.) on July 17, 2000.
As of April 2006, the certifications additionally obtained by the Tohoku Pioneer Group include Mogami Denki Corporation (the last certified domestic manufacturing subsidiary) and main overseas manufacturing subsidiaries: Tohoku Pioneer (Thailand) Co., Ltd.; Shanghai Pioneer Speakers, Co., Ltd.; Pioneer Speakers, S.A. de C.V. and Mogami (Dongguan) Electronics Co., Ltd.
Plans to apply for ISO 14001 certifications are under way for all remaining locations, including overseas manufacturing sites as well as other domestic or overseas places of business.

Philosophy of Environmental Protection

The Tohoku Pioneer Group has a common understanding that it is one of a business firm's primary obligations to retain, improve and turn over to our next generations this global environment. Therefore, the Group commits itself to the maintenance and realization of a safe and rich natural environment.

Corporate Environmental Policy

The Tohoku Pioneer Group will exercise the following environmental protection activities based on the essential fact that it has developed, manufactured and marketed audio system components, display system components, factory automation (FA) systems, medical supply parts, and precision molds/dies:
  1. While maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations as well as agreements to which we have subscribed in relation to our business and environmental management, we set and review periodically for revision our voluntary objectives to conduct environmental protection activities.

  2. We evaluate our environmental management system to continuously improve this system and environmental performance.

  3. Throughout our business operations, we address energy and resource saving, scrap reduction, and pollution control including air, water and soil contamination.

  4. We release products strategically designed and developed to reduce the negative impact to the environment and promote environmentally-friendly production operations.
