Pioneer Becomes a Partner Company of the
Sustain Energy Europe 2005-2008 Campaign

PEE (Pioneer Europe NV) has been accepted by the European Commission as a Sustainable Energy Partner and will contribute to its campaign in the field of "Sustainable Energy in Lighting and Appliances" from 2005 to 2008.
The Sustainable Energy Europe 2005-2008 Campaign is a European Commission initiative in the framework of the Intelligent Energy - Europe (2003-2006) Program, which aims to raise public awareness and promote sustainable energy production and use among individuals, organizations (private companies and public authorities), professionals, energy agencies, industry.
In order to promote this ecological activity, the Commission encourages many companies to become its partner. PEE has applied to be the partner on December 5 last year, and was granted the partnership status on January 6.
The campaign is conducted based on each partner companies' voluntary agreements. PEE has made the following agreements in the field of home electronics products.
Voluntary agreement on TV and VCR(since 1997) - reduce power consumption in standby mode to max. 6 W
Self commitment on TV - improve energy efficiency by an average of 15%
(min. 10%) by 2010. - make energy consumption available to consumer via EU DB - reduce standby consumption to 2 W in 2007 (1 W in 2008)
Voluntary agreement on audio - reduce power consumption in standby mode to 3 W from 2004, (1 W from 2007)
Code of conduct digital TV receiver systems - reduce standby and ON mode consumption
Self commitment on DVD players - reduce power consumption in standby mode to 1 W from 2005
With the partnership agreement, PEE is allowed to use the campaign logo and mark for these products' sales promotion purpose, which is very effective to enhance Pioneer's ecological image.
