Outline of exhibits

Advanced UX Cockpit Designed for Automated Driving (reference exhibit)

Visitors can enjoy a simulated driving experience of our SAE International Level 3* automated driving system. Level 3 is defined as conditional automation of the operational (steering, braking, accelerating, monitoring the vehicle and the roadway) and tactical (responding to events, determining when to change lanes, turn, use signals, etc.) aspects of the driving task. One of the biggest technological challenges of Level 3 automation is creating a safe and reliable hand-off from automated driving to manual driving. At the booth Pioneer is demonstrating how our technologies can be integrated into an automated system that meets the challenges of Level 3 automation. These technologies include new interfaces designed to offer safe and comfortable automated driving functions and new ways to enjoy time and space during travel in the age of automated driving. The cockpit is loaded with a 3D-LiDAR, a driving space sensor, considered to be a key device for realizing automated driving, a HUD (Head Up Display) providing intuitive information by AR (Augmented Reality) representations and driver monitoring systems that detect driver drowsiness.

Latest car electronics products: new NEX models feature enhanced connectivity to smartphones

We will display our latest aftermarket car electronics products including the lineup of NEX (Networked Entertainment eXperience) series available in North America to enhance connectivity to smartphones. Visitors can experience various cloud services, advanced function and powerful sound by Pioneer’s unique technologies in two demo cars at the Pioneer booth.

Pioneer Car Electronics Products Being Used by Car Manufacturers

We introduce examples of Pioneer products being used by various car manufactures through our OEM business in North America.

* In January 2014, SAE International created standard J3016: Taxonomy and Definitions for Terms Related to On-Road Motor Vehicle Automated Driving Systems, to provide a common taxonomy and definitions for automated driving. The standard identifies and lists six levels of driving automation from "no automation" to "full automation".
