Pioneer to Exhibit at Tokyo Motor Show 2015

Pioneer Corporation will exhibit at the Tokyo Motor Show, which is scheduled to be held at Tokyo Big Sight and open to the public from October 30 through November 8, 2015.

Pioneer will unveil a variety of cutting-edge technologies currently under development, ranging from solutions for connected cars to those for an automated driving society, in the Smart Mobility City 2015 area in the Show. This area represents a business theme advocated by the organizer of the event, and provides a place where visitors can experience a real world that interconnects vehicles, people, and cities. In our booth, we will set up the In-vehicle Context Awareness, a new conceptual mockup that enables visitors to experience a life made possible by next-generation connected cars. In addition, we will display and propose 3D-LiDAR, a driving space sensor, and new AR (augmented reality) HUD (Head-up Display) Unit, both of which are under development, as well as a variety of telematics services that utilize big data. Other exhibits will include examples of in-vehicle applications of OLED lighting.

Visitors will also enjoy taking a look at CYBER NAVI and Raku NAVI, our car navigation systems equipped with advanced functions, showcased in a zone for regular displays.

Pioneer booths: Booth No. SMC22 in the Smart Mobility City (West Hall 4) area
Booth No. W3401 in a zone for regular displays (West Hall 3) (Showcases in-vehicle devices currently on sale)

*A press briefing is scheduled to be held at 9:45 am, Thursday, October 29 at Pioneer’s booth (SMC22, West Hall 4).

Outline of exhibits

Presentation of a new automated driving society created by Pioneer (Presentation on the main stage)

We will present a new world of automated driving, made possible by a variety of advanced technologies that Pioneer is developing towards the creation of an upcoming automated driving society. Visitors will enjoy taking a glimpse at a new car life in which our original cutting-edge technologies are used.

New conceptual mockup of “In-Vehicle Context Awareness” (Reference exhibit)

Visitors will enjoy a simulated driving experience of a connected car in an advanced in-vehicle environment. This kind of vehicle adopting read-ahead techniques understands (anticipates) and provides, at the most optimal timing, information that drivers need in the midst of the constantly changing circumstances they encounter while driving.

Automated driving related technologies under development, such as 3D-LiDAR (Reference exhibit)

We will present the advanced automated driving-related technologies that Pioneer is developing or creating, such as 3D-LiDAR, a driving space sensor that is spotlighted as a key device for realizing automated driving, high-precision
location technologies, and a system for improving and operating advanced maps efficiently (“data ecosystem”).

AR HUD (Head-up Display) (Reference exhibit)

In 2012, Pioneer released the world’s first AR HUD (head-up display) unit that displays AR information on the windshield. This year, visitors will experience a newly developed AR HUD solution with further improvements.

Telematics service utilizing a cloud platform for automobiles

We will present the Vehicle Assist, a telematics service for commercial vehicles utilizing Pioneer’s Mobile Telematics Center, a cloud platform for vehicles, and the Car Beacon Service Platform, a telematics solution utilizing a beacon terminal for automobiles.

OLED lightings (Reference exhibit)

We will propose a variety of applications that draw upon the features of OLED lighting for vehicles, namely its surface light emitting, thin and light profile, and flexible uses.
