The Pioneer Story

Has anything inspired you recently? Something so intense that your soul was shaken and your skin covered with goose bumps? Pioneer was founded by a single man who had just such an experience.

The man' s name was Nozomu Matsumoto. In his late twenties, Matsumoto came across an American-made "dynamic speaker." When he heard the sound coming from the speaker, his entire body trembled. "I never knew a speaker could produce such a sound! It' s like nothing else I' ve heard before! I want as many people as possible to hear this amazing sound!" Since that day, Matsumoto couldn' t stop thinking about the dynamic speaker and the possibilities it presented. It was the inspiration that would lead to the foundation of Pioneer as a specialized producer of speakers.

Even today, some 60 years after the company' s foundation, this original Pioneer spirit is alive and well, and can be summed up by the Pioneer Group motto, "Move the Heart and Touch the Soul." This desire to revive people' s spirits so they can better face the coming day, as well as to provide inspiration in the form of music, movies, and other entertainment, is something that can be traced back to the day Nozomu Matsumoto first came across the "dynamic speaker."

1937 The much-anticipated A-8 dynamic speaker is launched.
