We seek a true integration of our business and environmental preservation activities based on this philosophy.
Consideration for the Environment in All Business Operations
Pioneer conducts environmental preservation activities spanning the entire product lifecycle, from product planning and design, procurement, production, shipping, and sales and services, to customer use, as well as final disposal and recycling. These activities help to ensure that all business operations are environmentally sound.
Integrated ISO14001 Certification
All Pioneer group companies worldwide (excluding newly established ones) have acquired ISO 14001 certification, which is an international certification for industry environmental management systems. To further enhance the group-wide performance of environmental preservation activities, Pioneer integrated the ISO 14001 environment management systems for Pioneer Corporation's four facilities in August 2007. As its next step, Pioneer will act to acquire a nationwide integrated certification to cover its subsidiaries in Japan, and then a worldwide integrated certification to cover all subsidiaries.
Eco-conscious Product Development
Pioneer considers the delivery of ecoconscious products to customers around the world to be one of its most important missions. Pioneer employs a life cycle assessment (LCA*1) method to assess
products and their environmental impact at each stage of product development. Pioneer also takes effective and appropriate actions for environmental protection for the entire lifecycle of the product. Pioneer is especially active in promoting group-wide initiatives to reduce emissions of CO2, which contribute to global warming. To this end, Pioneer focuses on conserving energy in product manufacturing and usage, reducing the use of natural resources and product weight, and improving transport efficiency through a modal shift.*2 Also, to further promote and improve its environmental efforts, Pioneer has adopted an assessment system to verify the environmental friendliness of its products by requiring them to exceed specific targeted levels of environmental performance.
*1: LCA (Life Cycle Assessment): Method for evaluating the overall environmental impact of products from procuring materials to their manufacture, shipping, sale, usage, disposal, and reuse.
*2: Modal shift: Change in the means of transport from trucks to railways or marine transport in order to save energy in logistics and reduce CO2 emissions.
Super advanced eco-model certified products
Cyber Navi Awarded Chairperson's Award, Utilizing the Pioneer Smart Loop, Pioneer car navigation systems help drivers avoid traffi c congestion and select the optimal route to their destination. These systems contribute to a reduction in wasteful fuel consumption and the prevention of global warming. Also, i ts online service "Smart Loop Drive Report" supports further eco-friendly driving by providing feedback data about one's driving. |
Pure Malt Speaker Pioneer Pure Malt Speakers are housed in speaker cabinets made from recycled whiskey barrels. Since its appearance in 1998, this series has inspired a variety of subsequent products creations and contributed to our 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) activities. Recently, the Pure Malt Speaker S-A4SPT-PM has also started to sell in overseas markets. In addition, audio racks made of recycled whiskey barrels have been launched to expand the Pure Malt series lineup. Thus, Pioneer is working to promote the recycling of natural materials. |
