Pioneer Academy
For the past fourteen years our local subsidiary in the United States, PSE, has been supporting an educational program for high school students at Long Beach in California, referred to as the "Pioneer Academy". The program has also been supporting student participation in a robot contest since 2005 and these high school students were able to achieve favorable results in the 2007 competition, resulting in the acquisition of scholarships.
Concerts entitled "Listen through the Body"
"Listen through the Body" concert was held jointly with PNA at the George and Skaye Aratani Japan America Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.
This concert was held as the final event of 2007 by the Asia America Symphony Association(AASA), which is sponsored by PNA(North American administrative company of Pioneer) and jointly performed by Yoshiko Matsui and David Benoit, famous jazz pianists from the United States.
PNA reserved 20 seats for the hearing impaired and invited 20 people who were university students, musicians and residents at Japanese American nursing homes. The concert was a great success, thanks to collaborations between the local staff and staff dispatched from Japan.
The secretariat for the "Listen through the Body" concerts intends to broaden the range of activities in the future both domestically and overseas, to offer the wonderful experience of music to as many people as possible in the hope of sharing the emotional experience with them.
